In order to understand the effect of nitrogen application on the growth and physiology of wheat seedlings in saline-alkali soil, the coastal saline alkali soil in Dongying City,Shandong Province was selected as the cultivation medium. A pot experiment was conducted to set four nitrogen application levels of 0,0.1,0.2 and 0.3 g·kg-1 soil with two wheat varieties Jimai 22 and Shannong 28 as materials. The effects of nitrogen application level on the growth and physiology of wheat seedlings, nutrient accumulation, glutamine synthetase (GS) activity and soluble protein (SP) contentunder saline-alkali stress were analyzed. The results showed that the application of nitrogen fertilizer significantly alleviated the inhibition of saline-alkali stress on wheat growth. With the increase of nitrogen application level, the plant height, dry weight and the accumulation of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium of the two wheat varieties showed an upward trend. Under the medium and high nitrogen application level (0.2 and 0.3 g·kg-1 soil),the increase rates of these five indices were 12%-37%,43%-118%,94%-176%,12%-83% and 51%-111%,respectively. The activities of GS and SP content in Jimai 22 leaves were significantly increased by 28%-33% and 32%-63%,respectively. Nitrogen application significantly increased GS activity of Shannong 28,but had no significant effect on SP content. Nitrogen application can promote the growth and nutrient accumulation of wheat seedlings under saline-alkali stress, which is conducive to their physiological metabolism, and thus alleviate the adverse effects of saline-alkali stress. |
