In this study, the evaluation of salt tolerance and analysis of genetic diversity, correlation and principal component were conducted with eight main quantitative traits of 132 wheat varieties from Huanghuai wheat region grown in salt pond with 0.3% and 0.5% salt concentration. Results indicated that the genetic diversity was abundant for the tested materials, and the coefficient of variation and genetic diversity index were increased with the increase of salt stress, in which, the variation coefficient of panicle number per plant, stem node length under panicle and yield per plant was greater than 10%, and the genetic diversity index of other traits was greater than 2, except for plant height. Analysis of the correlation between plant height and yield per plant indicated that there is significantly positive and not significant correlation, respectively, under high and low salt concentrations(0.5% and 0.3% NaCl). In addition, the 1 000-grain weight had significantly positive and not significant correlation with yield per plant, respectively, under low and high salt concentrations.Principal component analysis showed that the cumulative contribution rate of the first four principal components was 82.677% and 88.897% under low and high salt stress, respectively. Based on the comprehensive salt tolerance index, 11 varieties:Heng 4399 and Shimai 15 from Hebei Province, Qingmai 6, Qingfeng 1, Qingnong 2 and Yannong 5286 from Shandong Province, Luohan 6, Zhengmai 366, Zhoumai 22, Zhoumai 23 and Zhoumai 28 from Henan Province were screened out, which showed strong salt tolerance under two salt conditions. Combined with the field traits and yield, it can be concluded that Zhoumai 22, Luohan 6, Zheng 366, Qingnong 2, Yan 5286 and Heng 4399 are high-yield and salt-tolerance wheat germplasm resources which can be utilized in salt-tolerant breeding. |
