To study the effect of proline on nickel(Ni2+) toxicity in wheat(Triticum aestivum L.),wheat seedlings exposed to 10 μmol·L-1 NiSO4 were treated with different concentration proline. Results showed that Ni2+ exposure depressed wheat growth.Exogenous proline have positve effects to plant height, root index of wheat seedings, with 5 mmol·L-1 proline works best.Compared with the single Ni2+ stress, after 5 mmol·L-1 proline application, the root length, plant height, root fresh weight and root dry weight of the seedlings were significantly increased by 24.8%,12.5%,16.0% and 20.0%,respectively.And the activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD),peroxidase(POD),ascorbate peroxidase(APX),and catalase(CAT) were increased by 54.30%,43.00%,13.08%,67.67%.The contents of superoxide anion(O -· 2),hydrogen peroxide(H2O2),and malondialdehyde(MDA),significantly decreased by 56.65%,34.54%,32.35%,respectively.Meanwhile,the contents of proline and soluble sugar were decreased significantly.Ultimately, root activity was increased by 233.83%.Therefore,exogenous proline can significantly improve the antioxidant capacity of wheat roots, and then it can enhance the resistance ability of wheat and alleviate the toxic effect of nickel on wheat. |
